I always see the DING when I get hit with a crit, but never when I attack anything so it feels like I'm not able to crit. I can't really figure it out.

The DING you see is actually a monster (or pet) leveling up. This happens when they disable traps, kill other monsters, or kill you.

A player can critical hit, however the animation is not any significantly different than a normal hit; I also am not sure it does any additional damage. A critical hit in Rogue's Tale simply means that you hit your opponent in the head, and they use their headgear as armour instead of their chest piece; the same is the case when an opponent critically hits you.

You can check the text scroll at the bottom right; it will tell you when you have critically hit something.

Interesting! Thanks! No wonder it looked like monsters were critically hitting me all the time, they were just leveling up :D

Also whenever critical hit happens target is also confused.
