No one can ascertain the current Earth year (or if there is still Earth at all), so we start the count from Vostorg-7 year 0. This year marked the arrival of a joint Russian-Chinese colonization probe on Vostorg-7, a probe dispatched a very long time ago - in the early 21st century of Earth. After a long interstellar odyssey, it finally reached the unforgiving yet potentially habitable planet. The initial dreams of forging a unified spaceborne human nation were soon abandoned, as differing visions for utopian societies took root. Instead, seven independent human colonies emerged from the cosmic dust. While most of these colonies succumbed to rapid deterioration, with their inhabitants mutating into otherworldly beings or descending into feral lifestyles amidst Vostorg-7's unforgiving terrain, two colonies stood out as bastions of Man’s determination - the Derzhava and the Planet Cult.

The Taurus originally entered the production as a riot truck for the Ostslav special police force "Berkut". It was being able to transport 6-8 fully-equipped Berkut special troops and a water gun as a police truck. During the clashes and riot of the Ostslav Revolution, Taurus trucks saw heavy usage demolishing the protesters' barricades and storming barricaded positions. It was then when several Tauruses were captured by the militant group "National Assembly".
Because for long time the Ostslav army was meant more to fight internal than external threat - The Taurus became the third most popular military transport after trucks and BTR-80s.
However, with the overthrow of the previous government the real carrier of Taurus was only to begin. When the new government gained control of the army and internal troops, the militant organization National Assembly acquired formed police's heavy gear. Tauruses were dismantled of their water guns and received additional armor.
The National Assembly started forming it's mechanized divisions using the hardware of their former foes.
