RivalStrands is a massive multiplayer online game that takes place in the physical world. The premise is that of a forced alien intervention: In a desperate attempt to procure their survival as a species, the Celedians, an advanced extra-terrestrial race, find themselves forced to retrieve sample copies of human DNA. In exchange for help they promise to provide humanity with the tools to transcend corruption and suffering. Human governments, however, skeptical of the alien purpose have taken all necessary action to protect human freedom from all foreign intervention.
Players use their IOS device to choose which side to fight for. Their phone is then transformed into a radar and a weapon with which is used to identify enemy combatants, “attack” them or defend from their attacks.
Invisible Drones that hover the map are deployed by both sides. These can also be identified through the use of the radar. The mission is simple: neutralize players and collect DNA strands.
