Johan and Peter, the two designers of Rising Empires, plan to release a larger update of Rising Empires at the end of 2013. It‘s called ‘Rivers and roads’ and will allow players to connect their towns and cities with roads. Roads will provide faster movement for footmen and cavalry units.

“Building roads will work similarly to building castles and citadels. It’s really going to boost the use of engineers which up to now have been a bit pointless in the early game”, Peter says.

The update will also add rivers to the map. Rivers, while hard to cross, increase the food output of the sectors where they flow. This makes placement of new towns even more strategically important. It will also be possible to pillage enemy terrain improvements, destroying their roads.

“We’re looking forward to implementing roads since they will have a big influence on the game and how quickly you can move armies inside your own borders.”

Rising Empires is a new 4x strategy game released on Google Play and other app stores on September 21st. With an average rating of 5.0, the Premium version has been compared to classics like Master of Magic. Rising Empires was developed by the independent Swedish studio Hellhound Interactive owned by the two brothers Johan and Peter Norberg. We strive to create smart phone games which give a deeper gaming experience.
