A new indie adventure created by two games journalists will hit Windows PC later in 2012.

Richard & Alice is set in a world of disorder resulting from unexpectedly extreme weather conditions. No government was prepared for the months of heavy snow, or the ceaseless droughts that rendered other parts of the globe a desert.

Players will primarily assume the role of Richard, an inmate of one of this world’s luxurious but overcrowded prisons. But in a series of flashback sequences, they’ll also step into the boots of Alice, a new arrival to Richard’s huge cell.

The story-focused adventure will see players exploring Alice’s mysterious past while they work out what’s really going on in the outside world.

Written and developed by Lewis Denby, and co-designed by Denby and Ashton Raze, Richard & Alice sees two games journalists and adventure fans team up to make the sort of point-and-click game they love playing: one where the puzzles provide pacing to the storytelling, rather than acting as a stubborn distraction.

The game, developed as part of Denby’s Gamethunks brand, will also feature character art from freelance game artist Kyra Hills, and an original soundtrack by Yonatan Luria.
