Rhythm Hunter is a rhythmic rail shooter where you pursue a large monster across the city. It uses 2 rhythmic input schemes, aim focused rhythmic shooting and 5 key input. Clicking heads to music, the new way to shoot. The main loop of the game is dealing damage (achieving score) by shooting at the monster in time with the music, the rhythmic timing is also communicated to the player by the circular reticle, when the bars that move along the right side of the reticle reach the bottom in between the middle bars is when you shoot. Successfully doing this will build up the ultimate meter, when this is full you can enter your ultimate state where the gun automatically aims at the head of the monster, so you are instead presented with a layout similar to guitar hero, where when you press the keys at the right time it will shoot the gun for you. You will switch back and forth between these two rhythmic input schemes to repel the monster and save the city.

Description

This is the current state of the game, I am currently working around an old animation timeline which won't represent the final monster model being used and how it will move about, that will be worked on later. But you can see how the current flow of the game goes, you damage the monster by shooting at it in time to the music, the timing is also communicated on the circular reticle. Successful damage builds up your ultimate meter, when it is full you can use your ultimate which displays a rhythm input similar to guitar hero, during this phase the gun will auto target the head of the monster as you focus on inputting the correct keys in time with the music. You will switch back and forth between these two styles of rhythm input to damage the monster, the ultimate can be a double edged sword since entering that mode usually has more notes to hit which means more damage/score, but it can be get very complex on harder beat maps that require a lot of finger dexterity. This game is intended to be the bastard child of Guitar Hero, Osu!, Virtua Cop and Monster Hunter.
