Tim, our Community Manager has created another update video talking about the progress we made in 2016 from March untill June the 6th. Wich is a special Memorial day in WW2 History

Today, 72 years ago during the night from the 5th to the 6th of June,
Operation Overlord started. The objective was to liberate France from German occupation,
and it all started with one of the most most memorable days of war's history. US, british and canadian troops jumped out airplanes.
Ran out small boats towards german fire to liberate france and next, whole europe.

We've been quite busy over the last month or 2. Everyone got tasks and is getting their work done.
Paul, who also made the Kubelwagen back in march now modeled our faces, from the development team via photographs.

Stefan, our lead designer of this project is working on a para model of the US army.

Grimmcock (H4ngman) and Dave, our 3D Artists have modeled probely the most iconic weapons of WW2, namely the MP40, Thompson and ofcourse the M1 Rifle.

And also, Our favourite coding guy Korneel. Is working
on the gameplay functions of Resistance And Liberation. Tim got our Website out again. And we also have a new Facebook page where you can follow our development!

And again, we're always looking for new members to join our team and help us make this game look and play great again. The skills we require most currently are level designers,
3D artists with a background in character or prop creation and animators.

If you think, you can help, don't hesitate to approach us. And if you want to help, but think your skills are not sufficient yet, contact us anyway.
This team is a place where people can grow over time, we do not expect AAA level quality over night.

What happened to the old (already great) models from the mod? Are they lost/not suitable or weren´t you allowed to use them for the standalone game?

We still have those, including their sources, but we have multiple reasons to not use them anymore.

Some are pretty low poly to today's standards and after 8-10 years they're simply due for a remake. Some do not match the UE4 default skeleton that we are using. For some, we have an artist that is dedicated to making a new one and we took that opportunity to get new assets.

Another reason is us playing it safe, legally, since we have not been in touch with the artists who made some of the assets, like the guns and player models for years. And should we ever consider a Kickstarter campaign or putting a price tag on this project on Steam, we need to be on the safe side in terms of copy right for every single asset.

Thanks for answering! I really liked the weapon models of the mod, especially the look on the metallic parts and the details with working bolts e.g. on the K98k, that hardly any game/mod pay attention to. Too bad they are not good for further use but I would most likely make the same decision and play it safe even if it takes longer to rebuild it all from scratch.

I loved playing the mod and I´m really exited for the first release. Keep up the good work!

Btw. is there a reason why you use the Iron Cross in your icon/logo instead of the Balkenkreuz for the German side/Wehrmacht? I´m asking since the iron cross was (except for medals) only used during WW1 and after WW2 in the Bundeswehr but not in WW2 itself.

Well, thanks for asking :D We will make sure to stick to the level of detail that the old weapons had. If you take a look at the MP40 renders, you'll see how much effort Mr. Grimm has put into it already.

The thought process behind the iron cross was mostly: "What's the next iconic thing that is associated with Germany during WW2, that is not the swastika?" Personally, when I see the Balkenkreuz today, I think: "Bundeswehr", not "Wehrmacht".

Actually it´s the other way around, that´s why I was asking. The Iron Cross you used is mostly associated with the German Empire in WW1 or the Bundeswehr and not with WW2 itself.

The Wehrmacht/Luftwaffe actually never used the Iron Cross (aka Cross pattée) as a military symbol on vehicles or aircraft and exclusively painted the straight line Balkenkreuz (aka Bar or Beam Cross) on them.
During WW2 the Iron Cross, especially the version you used in the logo, was pretty much only used as part of the german war flag but that was a tradition already done before in the German Army and Reichswehr so it´s nothing iconic for the time during WW2 and as I said is actually more associated with the time during WW1 or after WW2.

So if you want a historically correct Symbol that is iconic for the time during WW2 (apart from the obvious Swastika) that would actually be the Balkenkreuz and not the Iron Cross/Cross pattée! ;)
