Red Alert: A Path Beyond brings the exciting storyline and epic clashes from the classic Westwood Studios game, Command & Conquer: Red Alert to realm of first person shooters, with a twist. We've remained loyal to the style and feel of the 1996 classic, while integrating content from its expansions Counterstrike and The Aftermath with a bit of updated history to add to the mix. Built off the W3D engine Westwood Studios built for classics such as Earth & Beyond and Command & Conquer: Renegade finished up in 2001, we help bring the fight to you as you play out your role as any one of a number of infantry classes participating in team-based combat that often involves land, sea, and air combined-arms clashes that just don't happen in any other game. Oh, and did we mention it's FREE?

I've just posted a news update; in addition to not being able to see infantry coming from the sides, they'll be able to hide off radar to ambush after you pass.

I personally don't like this at all. It was fine as it was.

Correct, it was fine how it was in past circumstances. But, we're aiming to make some significant changes to the tanks, icluding making them more vulnerable to infantry and with less built-in situational awareness.

Well then you are kind of moving away from what the C&C-mode really was. The problem here is that you are narrowing the FOV quite a lot, which can cause problems for some players, like myself.

I believe that was his intent - to limit the effectiveness of tanks against infantry that flank them.

My point wasnt that it makes it harder, the point was that narrow FOV can cause eyestrain, dizzyness and/or headache for some people. I am one of them.

I'd like it to be switchable like the Infantry Third person and First person. I like this view a lot though!

it'll be good if they keep 3rd person view as well, like infantry

This looks like it has some potential. With the view restriction there would be more importance to that little thing in the lower left, plus if tanks are more suspectible to infantry flanking you might actually be able to make them more deadly in the front (or whereever the barrel is currently aiming at). I like.

I might have to visit the forums again some time, seems like I've missed out on quite some progress.

Description

Adjusting the view to be a bit more immersive and tight, instead of the super-third-person from past versions.
