Project Reality 2 will continue to be inspired from the worlds current conflicts, which will feature the armed forces of the United Kingdom, United States, Germany, Russia, Israel, China, and Canada, as well as numerous insurgent and irregular forces.
Project Reality contains some of the deepest cooperative gameplay seen in video games today and is designed to promote both technical realism and teamwork without sacrificing accessibility in doing so. The result is a virtual battlefield that continually proves itself to be both enjoyable and intense to all manner of players, whether they be military enthusiasts or gamers looking to experience an intense and challenging firefight with friends where teamwork is just as important as a quick trigger-finger.
Overcoming fierce competition from over one hundred other mods, the Project Reality team won ModDB.com's definitive Mod Of The Year award in 2008 having come in second place in both 2006 and 2007. Project Reality is also one of only 21 mods inducted into ModDB's prestigious Hall Of Fame. Project Reality continues to boast a large player population seven years after its initial release, a testament to its continued development support, lasting appeal, and widespread popularity.
The Project Reality 2 development team comprises of a group of dedicated and skilled modders, some of whom have backgrounds in armed services, whose ultimate goal continues to be the release of a Project Reality 2 standalone game.
Current Project Progress:
Currently the Project Reality 2 team are on their way to releasing an internal alpha test prototype in the upcoming months.
Since its inception over 8 years ago, Project Reality has built a large, dedicated community which has watched the mod evolve from a single forum post into one of the most successful and decorated modifications of its time. As Project Reality has continued to grow and branch out onto multiple game engines, one question has been continuously asked; Will Project Reality ever produce an independent game?
Well, today we are pleased to finally answer that question. The Project Reality team is proud to officially announce that we are currently developing a completely standalone PC game, Project Reality 2!
Project Reality 2 (or simply "PR2") will be a free to play multiplayer FPS PC game, based off of the critically acclaimed Project Reality modifications for Battlefield 2 and ARMA 2. Unlike our previous projects, PR2 will be a completely standalone game that will require no retail game to play. Our mission is to create the most realistic, immersive and demanding shooter within a virtual combat environment, focusing on encouraging teamwork through tactical gameplay.
Project Reality 2 began in mid 2012 and is being created completely from scratch using Crytek's next generation game engine, CryEngine 3 SDK. This powerful engine provides tools able to create many stunning features to recreate and improve upon what you as Project Reality players have become accustomed to.
We are currently developing an initial Alpha build, which will hopefully be ready for internal testing within the next two months. Since Project Reality 2 is a standalone game, everything must be built from scratch, thus requiring more production time than PR’s previous projects. A public release is still away off, but don’t worry; during the entire development cycle we will be updating the community with as much news and media as possible.
Initially, Project Reality 2 will be a small scale, infantry based FPS with a comprehensive weapon handling system that will aim to be as realistic as possible. Map sizes will be 1km and 2km with an Advance and Secure (or "AAS") style game mode, similar to that seen in the Project Reality: BF2 and Project Reality: ARMA 2 modifications.
The internal Alpha will have the Fools Road map which has been beautifully recreated in CryEngine, a true to life representation of the eastern part of Laskar Gar, Afghanistan and a basic training map available for players to familiarize themselves with the controls and other in-game aspects of PR2. Also under development is an amazing recreation of the Spanish city, Sant Elm, which will be featured in a future update.
What factions can you expect to see in Project Reality 2? Well, currently we plan on implementing the British Armed Forces along with a Rebel / Insurgent Force. The United States Army faction is also currently under development.
The PR2 team has been working around the clock to utilize CryEngine 3’s enhanced performance to create the highest quality models and textures ever produced by Project Reality. Listed below are just a few of the numerous weapons and equipment that will be at your disposal.
The Project Reality 2 team is actively recruiting talent! Would you like to be a part of an established development team with experienced developers and many more contributors? Do you have a skillset with CryEngine 3? If you'd like to help out then please don't hesitate to submit an application. Whatever your skill, we want to know. We are always recruiting.
As you can see, these are exciting times for Project Reality! For further information please feel free to browse the Project Reality 2 Forums and become more involved. Also, be sure to connect to Project Reality 2 through social media to stay informed and receive up to the minute updates, the occasional leaked bit of information and more! We thank you all for your continued support.

Is PR2 totally abandoned?
Not abandoned, renamed to Squad
Yes.
Look, guys, I love PR and all and I'm very hopeful for PR2's success. But it's been almost half a year and we haven't had any more updates. Meanwhile, Squad, a commercial game which is also a spirital successor to PR, including many veteran PR devs. It's being made on Unreal Engine 4 and, unlike PR2 and PR ArmA 3, it appears to be far more promising and actually seems to have a future. In a few months since it's announcement, we have had a good amount of updates and videos. There is already working network play, VoIP, weapons, a map, etc. They should start alpha testing this months or April already. Belive me, I give it far more faith than PR2, as much as I would like both of them to have a future.

They are making a game called Squad instead. Will be more close-quarter focused fighter. Bye bye PR2 :(
If you know the minimum and recommended system requirements for this game, What would be it?
It should have a CPU, GPU, RAM, OS and if it is 32 or 64-bit.
Don't say wait until they tested it on some PCs. I am already waiting for this from the day this was shown to the public. (I mean this page. Not the "PR2 has been released to the public.")
So sad, PR2 is dead.
rly?
I assume (since its ruing on Cry engine 3) that the minimum/recommended would be the same as Crysis 3 or something close by.
