Sticking to our promise of updates every two weeks. Bear in mind that this will of course mean smaller scale updates, so don't expect as big a jump as 1.0 to 2.0 had.

If you don't have the launcher, be sure to grab it in the downloads section! Otherwise, just open your launcher and it will find the update on its own.

Anyway, here's what this update will consist of:

AI

  • This would be where the chunk of the time was spent. We now have a working, simple AI that will fight back when you try to battle it. We'll be evolving this system over time, but now we have a basic framework to build from, and can also take your suggestions into account.
  • AI Pidgey can't fly yet. We know this, and it isn't a bug.

Jumping

  • This is also something in its baby steps, but basically - with Charmander and Pikachu - you can jump now. We'll add this feature to the other ground PKMN over time, but we more so just wanted to see how it would work first. Animations are iffy, but we'll fine tune them as we go, like most things.
  • Not all of the current in-game Pokémon can jump, yet, although they're intended to be able to in the future.

Bug-Fixes

  • Various bugs have been addressed, and although not all of them are fixed, we've started to dent the armor some, so expect these to be a gradual thing as well.

Controls

  • There is now a controls.txt file included with the game. I'm a derp and forgot it last time, sorry!
  • We've improved the camera a bit, and also made it remember your previous lock-on choice so it won't auto-lock with each newly clicked enemy.

Note

  • Everyone will have to reset prior to capturing or sending out a Pokémon, due to some slight reworking. This is intended. If you do NOT reset, it'll just break your game until you do.

That's it for this update. As I said, they'll be smaller from now on, but most likely each will be aimed at one specific feature (in this case AI), while smaller stuff is done on the side.

So, I think something went wrong... I used the launcher to update the game, but when I play, the pokemon are still just standing there like statues. I always capture them like before, but this time, after I capture them, they don't appear in my inventory, and I don't know how to collect them. Also, I'm not seeing and new additions that's mentioned in this thread, expect for the new bridge.

Reset the game. Though they don't fight unless you attack them using a pokemon.

It could be a malfunction when the game loads, try deleting it from desktop and redownloading it.

I think you should do a hot patch to fix the no catching pokemon. And am I the only one that also starts without a pokemon?

Xatoku you forgot to mention that

pokemon break rocks
pikachu's thunder wave (4) can make pokemon paralysised
the bridge
pokemon can faint

Can't wait for the next update big or small

i wonder if a new pokemon would come in or a improved catching system
or maybe the pokedex and options finally come to use or maybe you can improve the ai but then again ratata is the worst always tackling

i really look forward to your work Xatoku

the breaking rocks, the paralysis and the fainting were already in the game, they were no part of the update...

I think they mean to add the pokemon's shown on the next update. And yeah I wonder when those buttons are to become usable.

Ever since I updated, my character keeps running to the right. I can make him move in other directions, but he never stops. Everything else seems to be working fine. I did try deleting everything and then downloading the launcher again and reinstalling, but I still have the same problem.

How is adding the pokemons capabilities to fight back, backwards? I would say it is a huge advancement.

I have a question, and many more probably have it too
The game is evolving great... it's getting really awesome...
But... is this going to be like sandbox?
I think it would be amazing if it has sandbox

Awesome update! You were very creative with the way moves are used and how they react with each other!

I think there are a few minor things that could be improved, which would improve the game overall.

When not locked-in with an enemy pokemon (or when the character is just walking around), rather than having to hold the right mouse button to have the camera following the mouse movement, clicking the button should swap between the two camera modes (very minor, but still important I think).

A cool-down on moves to prevent spamming (god-damn ratata...) would be nice. Nothing too restrictive, just something that prevent getting stuck in an infinite chain of tackles.

Very good work guys, keep it up!
