Platinum Arts Sandbox Free 3D Game Maker is a free open source 3D Game Maker, world creator and 3D Game Design program currently being used in many schools throughout the world that allows kids and adults to create their own video games, worlds, levels, adventures and quests, even cooperatively! The goal is to make it accessible to kids but also powerful enough for full game projects. With a simple click and roll of a mouse wheel users can modify the world however they want. In the words of a nine year old Sandbox whiz I babysit for, “Press Edit and go fulfill your dreams!”. Now features new game modes such as sidescroller, machinima, kartmode, RPG, and more!

sorry, not yet, I believe one of calimer's friends was going to do that as neither of us have possession of a mac, just hang in there or play around in xcode, and see if you can get it working. in fact, we're not sure if the project is even up to date anymore.

Hey! I tried out the game, and i really must admit, i love the gameplay. I have yet to try to play mutliplayer (which i have high expectations to). Anyways, great work!

Oh! And as and xfire user, i would like to provide you with following link: Xfire.com :) (to let the game send information of ingame to xfire)

considering I'm the pretty much the only coder for the project, and that I use linux, I wouldn't hold my breath if I were you. Xfire is windows only, I don't have windows, so I've no means of testing if the implementation worked if I was to do it.

have you ever heard of 'mumble'? sandbox has support for that (it came from upstream, in the engine development area)

Hi Mike,

I was just watching the modcast interview with you and I must admit that this idea is a really good idea for kids. I admire that some one is doing something for kids to get them inspired to becoming a part of the video game industry.

Just my take on this is for the PR end of things, this really could be a mainstream thing through a majority of schools across the country. Even though it's a video game development tool, if enough schools realize that the video game industry is a promising industry to get into, the opportunity for an excellent tool such as this could make it to a wide array of them. I truly think you have a great free product here. I'm big on PR myself as I've been doing it since 2000. And hey, if you ever need a hand in getting this product out there a lot more, please feel free to give me a shout.

Nonetheless, great job on this. I wish you the best of luck on your future projects, and great job in the modcast interview. Other than saying "Like" too much, lol.

Take care. :)

Brad

Heya Brad, thanks for the message!! Any PR help you want to offer would be huge!! It certainly isn't a product that is easy to market since some people think it is ONLY for kids, and also because it isn't exactly a game persay. Thanks for all of the feedback and yeah I'd love to get it into more schools. Not quite sure the best way to do that though. Take care and feel free to drop by our irc sometime at irc.oftc.net #sandbox or you can click Kids.PlatinumArts.Net As a note I'm not around too much because of all the teaching at the kids camp :) Take care and thanks again!
