Meet the blacksmith: salvage and upgrade!
Salvaging breaks down unwanted gear into upgrade materials (common pixels from common gear, rare pixels from rare and so on).
Upgrading uses salvaged pixels to make your equipment stronger. For example upgrading weapon increases its base damage and armor piece upgrades increase base armor. Commons cap at +3, rare +6, epic +9 and legendary +12.
