Ahoy landlubbers, it’s Frie. I hope that you enjoy my reports about events surrounding the development of Pirates Of New Horizons, but I suspect that you are even more interested in the actual work on the game. This is why I’ll try to make the development process as transparent as possible and frequently show you what we’re up to. I haven’t fully decided on the type of presentation and frequency yet, but for the first development update I forced kindly asked Soenke, Skjalg and Michael to each record a video of one, or two features they have been working on lately and let them explain themselves. I’ve wrapped the videos together and you can watch the final result below.

Thanks to the guys for letting me upload this! I know it isn’t easy to show something you’ve been working on, when you know it isn’t finished yet. Did you enjoy this? Is this something you would like to see more often? Longer? Shorter? Harder? Better? Faster? Stronger? Let us know!

Hmmm, not sure how I feel about numbers popping up with how much money you pick up, I think that kind of breaks immersion. Ah well, the rest looks very cool.

Loving that use of vertex colours, I would love to get my hands on that Maya shader that was mentioned? Is there any chance of that?

If enough people ask for it and pester Michael, he might release it! ;)

Very nice, painting real-time in the engine? Very cool. I would like to get my hands on that shader too.
