Paxitium is a work-in-progress survival game set in the early 1900s. Facing obstacles ranging from natural needs such as hunger and thirst to dangerous wildlife and unfriendly human NPCs, the player must choose a role and survive in the wilderness. Eventually through venturing multiple neighboring islands, the player is able to discover numerous clues related to the background of the world they are in.

Basic gameplay will include construction of structures for protection from enemies, looting items from abandoned towns, and more. Cooperation between players is highly encouraged, and the servers will offer extensive customization to settings such as PvP/PvE, day cycle length, difficulty of AI, and much more, to create a fresh experience for players.

Several unique features planned for the game not commonly present in other titles of this genre are:​

  • A beautiful, explorable world with several islands. Each island has its unique characteristics and purpose, giving a benefit to each survivor who plans to settle upon it. The items which the player can attain can be valuable, especially when trading with other players.
  • A discoverable, non-linear backstory which can be completed while the player is surviving either alone or together.
  • A dynamic event system which rewards the player with unique items unattainable from other methods.
  • Various types of enemies and behavior designed to introduce a new threat as the player ventures from the starting island.

Q: Will the game be free to play?
A: No, the final version will be sold for $10.

Q: Where can we get it?
A: We will be launching to Steam for CLOSED ALPHA around December 2017.

Q: How will the game be different from other survival games?
A: The main feature we are excited about is the aspect of exploring the multiple neighboring islands and allowing the player to discover numerous clues embedded within each of the islands.

Key major features showcased in the video:

  • Improved item gameplay. Melee weapons were reworked to feel more reponsive.
  • Added outlines on interactable objects to improve visibility at night.
  • Added various visual effects: explosion with camera shake, blood splatter on screen, item pickup effect, FPS legs, and proning camera behavior.
  • Added third person animations for various actions, such as reloading a weapon or consuming an item.
  • Doors will now open outwards based on where the player is facing.
  • Clothing now affects inventory space. Dropping backpacks will preserve items stored inside it.
  • Added body slot, which allows the player to hold items of any size.
  • Different looting mechanics for player and animal corpses.
  • Changed user interface and added many QoL changes.
  • Campfires can now cook raw meat.
  • Improved construction to support multi-storey bases.
  • Bushes make noise and slow the player down when walking through them.
  • Added 2 new islands.
  • Made various improvements on environment: wind animation and grass color blending.
  • Localization/translation of the user interface (WIP).
  • Added a tutorial.
  • Reworked the save game menu for singleplayer.
