Overgrowth takes place in the savage world of Lugaru where rabbits, wolves and other animals are forced to use paws, claws and medieval weaponry to engage each other in battle. Combining 3rd person adventure platforming with intricate melee combat, Overgrowth achieves a unique feel. Overgrowth also benefits from Wolfire's brand new Phoenix Engine which has been built from the ground up to allow the use of cutting edge graphics, animation, and physics. Add to these exciting features Overgrowth’s realistic artificial intelligence and streamlined control system and the result is an astoundingly immersive experience.

Isn't it a little too soon? I mean, it's been so many years, but development was stalled for quite a while. The only real content the game has is the previous game...

Beta? That means playable from start to finish with "minor" adjustment (filling in the story texts, making the maps looking good, fixing a few bugs) to be made then.
I was wondering a few weeks ago if this game would ever come out of alpha.

People have been wondering that for almost a decade.

But hey, good for you, Overgrowth! I'm glad you're not dead.

The actual overgrowth campaign they are still holding close to chest. (Which I think is a good move otherwise their player base will be completely bored when it comes out). But it looks like all the mechanics and engine features they need are all there, hence the switch to beta.

Oh, you are still alive? That is so exciting for 2009. I'm sure my future kids will be thrilled to play it, but only if I threaten them otherwise.
