The fight for survival is on! OverDose is a class, team & objective based multiplayer game set on a post-apocalyptic Earth. With gameplay in the tradition of classic games such as Return to Castle Wolfenstein and Enemy Territory, melded with up to date gameplay mechanics and movement, OverDose is a unique blend of online action, team play and of course, lots of gore. Using id tech 2 as a base, OverDose features updated engine features like full real time lighting and shadow mapping, physically based rendering, particle and physics simulations and more. Plus, in classic id Software tradition, our engine and game are fully moddable and scriptable, meaning even amateur mod makers can bring their own creations to life with ease. This isn't war... It's an all out apocalypse!

Fallout3 did had indeed great models for blown up/off heads.
but, in my opinion there hasn't been a game that does this so well as SOF2 (soldiers of fortune2) did, not SoF3, but Sof2. Even now, when the
game is at least 8 years old or so they still give the best, and most gruesome head explosions.

that said, i love what you did here. Great gore and blood scenes are loved by most fps fans!

Oh god, I'd forgotten SoF2 (probably because of number 3). It really does have the best damage model.

BRAAAAINSSSS FOR THE BLOOD GOD!!!! MUHAHAHAHA!!!!

PS - Why not make limb shot models as well? Would be awesome to see some limb dismemberment in the game, or perhaps even the ability to tear your enemy's entrails via a special melee attack feature.

Ok, so I AM actually making the full body gib model, as I type this even. So bodies really will blow into several chunks of meat and lots of blood. But don't expect an actual damage model for arm/leg shots etc, its not what we are going for and is waaaaaay too hard for me to do. Remember that OverDose is based on a medic/revive system, and while head shots and full on body explosions are ok, individual limbs are very, very hard to get working in that system.

But yeah, we all love gore here, and we want bodies to pretty much explode in the mose horrific way possible. So stay tuned.

i think that you should consider making the headshot gib happen only with a large caliber weapon imo it would just look weird if you shot a headshot with pistol and the head exploded

It already does. Its only for up-close shots with the shotgun, or Sniper head shots, which are both one hit kills and no chance of revive.

you should just use the surgery simulator 2013 code for medics.

Description

Head Shot Models - I tried to copy the way Fallout 3 did it really with the segmented "pieces". Theres clearly no FX shown here, and its posed in a way to show everything in one shot, but I'll have a video up soon of the effect, including blood and physics. Neck stump by By Svein Yngve Sandvik Antonsen.
