Oswald is a 2D side scrolling action-adventure platformer set in a surreal spooky underground world that challenges players to triumph over simple to intense platforming puzzles by swinging on a Needle and Thread that will bend and wrap around the environment. Oswald's core gameplay is movement, you can climb up almost any wall, shoot the Needle and Thread into almost any surface to swing across giant chasms, and dash down steep corridors avoiding the various objects rushing towards you and crushing down on you. Keep on moving, never stop swinging, leaping, and climbing, or the evil shadows of the cave will overrun you!

It's Saturday night and you're... In the Lab!

Step back into our world for the second installment of the critically acclaimed series which gives you a little taste of what Sleepless Game Studios is up to tonight. We're staring straight down the barrel of our big Alpha deadline coming up on Wednesday. It's looking good for us so let's have a look see at what is getting done.

How 'bout them enemy types? We got what you need! Shadow Sentry's are popping out of the ground when you least expect it and taking aim, Seed Pods are firing at you and making traversing those narrow corridors even more tricky, Chasers are running straight at you trying to take you down, and Spinners are looking much like a ferris wheel of doom. A few still need final art, but they are working properly. Staying alive and picking up those buttons is now a real challenge. Let's see what we can come up with next.

Our biggest challenges coming up in the next couple days are getting our audio in. We have a custom audio manager working seamlessly, but putting all the actual files in the game can be a very tedious assignment. Just when you think you've got all of it in, you realize that something doesn't sound right...because there's no sound. Between background audio, trigger sounds, scripted event audio, there are lots and lots of files to put in. Good thing we've got lots of headphones to go around, because this might take a while.

Now a little something for your nerdy viewing pleasure. Enjoy a small snapshot of our work in its open Unity project. In it you can see our prefabs, and our script for bolts, including its particle renderer, mesh renderer, and calls for audio.

And that's what's happening this week, in the lab.
