Final Update

News

SINK, like Orkmoth was cancelled. The concept was buggy in the engine I used. Also, I'm too busy to continue development (as well as this, I think it's a waste of time). Please, if you want the maps, download them. I'm archiving the game in 1 week from now. Although, they may still be available after archiving.

I am not starting any new projects in this engine, as I'll be busy learning programming (C# and Java to be more specific). I also have a lot of school revision to do ¬_¬

I'm still writing the novel. I'm not gonna stop this far into it ;D
For updates on the novel (based on this game), I'll be posting them here eventually:

There's another map preview video coming, but there won't be many BIG changes, since I've been working on other things.
But still, there's an update coming.

I thought Platinum Arts Sandbox doesn't have a RPG support.

It didn't. It does now. Well, it has for a while, but it was very limited, but it has begun to have more features now :)

It's a shame I have no aptitude with development software, otherwise I would offer my help on this project, as it shows great promise. Also, I have an additonal question. Will magic/spellcasting be involved in this setting? It seems it would not, because the more realistic setting, but I could see a few ways it could logically fit in.

There is going to be spellcasting in the game.

Though, it will be Andria's main race which specialises in magic/spellcasting. Orkmoth's main race (Accendiate) is gnome-like, and focuses on agility, and Seasalk's main race (Laboreptilia) is reptilian, and focuses on strength, so both races will be not so good, or maybe 'OK' at spellcasting, as it's more their weakness.

Also, you may help to offer ideas, suggestions to the game, if you like :)

So each specialises in a certain discipline, makes sense. Will any societies revolve around magic? For example, a leader being elected based on his ability to spellcast or a society worshipping an ancient magical person/creature who leads them. I also had another thought. The planet is robotic, correct? Would that not mean it has to be "maintained" by something? Perhaps by some kind of repair drones/robots, which the creatures on the planet could see as some kind of magic creature or a holy/unholy being. Like an angel or demon. Might be too sci fi-y for this, but just a thought.

Your first question is sorta what the majority of Andrian's are like, big believers in the Gods, spellcasters, maintaining sources of mana, etc, following multiple ancient gods/beings. There may be a few societies like this in the other nations to, come to think of it :)

The planet is robotic, but sorta not maintained. The creatures that constructed the planet left life on it as a test, to view evolution in process, but soon after died out, though the test succeeded, millions of years before the point the game is set.
{ ! SPOILER ! } Though robotics beneath the surface eventually begin to break, rust, as they're old, causing havoc above the surface (as well as below). And in the storyline for the game, the ground crumbles and you, the player, falls beneath the surface of the planet and you must restore things to how they once were, by retrieving mechanics, devices, etc. Though, this all happens further into the game, it begins with the war between Orkmoth and Seasalk. { ! SPOILER ! )

Ah, I see. Also, in regards to magical creatures as I mentioned earlier, what kind of wildlife will there be? Will you have some usual creatures we see in fantasy settings (Werewolves, dragons, vampires, giant spiders, etc.) or will you be having an entirely uniquely created beastiary? Additionally, might I suggest some kind of Avian race. Few rpgs have an Avian race and think the provide a few interesting opportunities regarding culture and religion. For example, they could worship the sky for the gifts it gives (Such as rain, the sun, wind, etc.)and hate races who pollute the sky with smoke from chimneys and forges.

Uniquely created beastiary sounds like a good idea, I may have a mix of both. I like the idea of having an avian race, also the example of this, overall there will be 9 races on the planet, and I've only came up with 4 so far, so this may make a good addition. A much more natural race for the planet, and remain out of wars as a neutral nation, but take action against threat to the planet, which I may be able to somehow put into the storyline, or something.

[ So far the race types are; Reptilian, Gnome (human), Insectoid, Serpent and giants (human, but larger) ]
