OOK, Once I Owned a Kestrel, is now being revamped. Previously, it was to be released solely on iPhone and iPad. Now, iPhone, iPad, and other mobile devices are dropped and it will be primarily a desktop project. Welcome to the new OOK. Enjoy.

Update on progress and a new idea for an assets editor.

Posted by on

This is just a small update. In the past couple days I have made the following progress:

1.) Pagination for text views
2.) Listing of radar items
3.) Click-to-target for radar item list
4.) Basic structure for Ships.plist - ship data file

On the topic of data, today as I was tediously entering data into my (.plist) data files, I realized that an editor would not only drastically increase my workflow, but would also be extremely easy to make. I will now proceed to create a .plist assets editor for OOK. While is will prolong my current work on OOK, in the long run it will save me precious time and prevent me from making stupid mistakes that often comes with entering data directly into many arrays with a basic (.plist) or text editor. I will be sure to post screenshots of it as it is created.

Additionally, the assets editor may end up providing a full project environment with automatic asset organization and image resizing capabilities to make sure that all my assets are in their place as well as to specification. Of course, the actual creation of things like images, models, and code will best be left to the appropriate programs - Blender, Photoshop, and Xcode.
