Quite a bit of progress made and some new information is being announced as well. Check inside for more details!

Hey everyone, it is update time once again. Sorry this is a few days late, CI has some technical issues that had to be resolved and that forced me to push back the updates a few days. So we have quite a bit to go over.

First I wanted to announce that I have decided on a firm name for the game. Space Crusade was an alright name but it lacked a certain something. After several months of deliberation I have chosen Odyssian Void as the new name for the game. I will be updating things here to reflect this slowly. I have changed the icon to the icon the game will use as well as updating the website link for the game. I am currently working on the image for the name and will add it to the graphic I created a while back and then update the banner and preview images once these are completed.

I have also created a new Google+ page and YouTube channel just for Odyssian Void. This is where all of the developer's vlogs and other related videos, including the ones for this update, will be posted to from now on; not on our main channel/page.

So on to the progress report proper. While I have no changelog entries for you (I completely forgot to do them for a while and decided to give up on them for 0.6 entirely) I will attempt to recall from memory some of the more buried things that were worked on as well as the more obvious ones.

First and foremost are the database changes. I went through and added many new items to the equipment_data table as well as finished combining the disparate tables into the equipment_data table. This took quite a long time, three and a half weeks in full, to complete. This allowed me to also add in weapons for certain categories that had not yet gotten any like rail guns, heavy weapons, or bombs for commandships.

I am not sure exactly how many items and new ships I added but in the total it was well over 200. I will get an exact count, just for kicks, and let you know in the next update.

The major development so far in the development for 0.6 has been the advent of the modding system. The modding system has been implemented and I am currently still rummaging around in the code for values that can be made external. I am also dealing with decisions on how to deal with certain completely internal aspects and making them external, such as races and their empires, so that modding of those can be done as well.

I go into the system, how it functions, and some ways that I am applying it as well as how it is changing the code in the developer's vlog. I also go into my troubles finding something that would allow me to actually implement the system in the way I had envisioned.

Most of the other changes so far have been related two either of the above developments; things like updating the code for the equipment table or adding in the code for station markets handling the new weapon types. Overall, all things considered, it has been a slow month for development.

I am hoping that I will get much more done now that I am placing CI on the side burner so I can dedicate more time to some other projects, including this one. This should allow me to accelerate my release schedules a bit, especially if I can get a lot knocked out over the coming two months as the modding system is the only thing that is really being focused on for 0.6 in terms of new features (there are other things that still need finished that will be worked on as well, such as the casino).

I do not have any audio for this update either. I will have audio for the next one though, several new tracks as well as an update on the pre-battle theme and the trailer music. I may also have some of the first concept art for emblems and crests for the various races and organizations within the game; something I am going to be needing for the YouTube channel trailer video (at least until the actual game teaser is created, whenever that will be).

Here is the first developer's vlog:

Well that's it for this update. By the time the next one rolls around a lot more should be done and I should also have some other media for you as well.

Thanks for following the project!
