Navigator is an action-puzzle game being developed for the PC, Xbox 360 and Windows Phone 7 platforms. Navigator mixes platformer elements with classic block puzzle elements to create a unique puzzle experience.
In Navigator, blocks are fired from the top of the screen from a Block Cannon into a 10x15 playing field in four different colors: red, blue, green, and yellow. Matching 4 colors or more will create a "cluster" which will clear that portion of the field.
Depending on the placement of the player's blocks, destroying a cluster can set off a chain of clusters that duplicate the amount of points the player gets.
While controlling the Block Cannon, the player is also controlling a small avatar in the playing field, that the player must move around, avoiding the Punishment Area (top of the field) by using the character's unique abilities to avoid hazards and keep themselves alive.
When the player reaches the top of the playing field, the game is over.
Navigator encourages cooperation, as every gameplay mode can be played cooperatively with 2 players. In cooperative 2-player games, one player controls the Block Cannon, and the second player controls the player character.
C'mon! You didn't really think that was it, did you?! There's no way we were going to end this game on a single release of Navigator! I'm a genius, give me some credit here!
Alright, alright. So I know that the lab_build release could've gone better. A lot better. But I'm a very busy scientist! I have a life too, you know! It's very easy to get caught up with other things, especially if you're trying to make a living!. Blame capitalism, not the little ones like me!
But! I am a lady of my words! I promised you folks updates, and that's exactly what I'm gonna give you! No matter what! Never settle for less!
Now yes, I know the lab_build of Navigator is very incomplete compared to what was originally planned. And maybe the actual release itself was a bit underwhelming... ...but I'm here to fix that! Not just for myself, but for YOU! We both benefit! Isn't that exciting?!
Yikes, I'm starting to get ahead of even myself here! Let me turn it down real quick, so we're all on the same page.
So! The good stuff! Okay.
What I'm going to be doing over the next few days is rebuilding the Navigator Function System, the engine you've been playing the game on for the last year. Consider this a massive overhaul!
Using brand-new, multiplatform code, I'm going to rebuild the NFS from scratch and create an overall greater experience! With the rebuilt systems, I'll be able to make Navigator better than ever! It'll be easier to improve, and it'll be much easier to create brand new content!
Now, of course, it may take a while before I have something to show you lovely bunch! But I promise you, it definitely won't take a year this time! Patience, and it shall come to you when you least expect it!
Now, before I go... remember! Even though we're working on the overhaul, you can still buy and play Navigator: lab_build right here on Desura! It's only $4.99, it's a fun game, and you'll be supporting my crew and I in continuing to support and improve the game! You'll get enrolled in the new engine and its updates automatically, which means you won't miss anything when I update Navigator!

I've been developing a game in this same vien for about the past two years. But thankfully my game is more dig/dug + warios woods than tetris drop style. Never noticed this on here.
I feel like you could go much farther with the graphics as far as direct comments on your game go. For instance maybe something more origonal for the blocks?
thanks for your comment! this was actually the first game i "finished," so i put a lot of focus on just getting the graphics done. however, with the new version i'm currently working on with my buddy, i have a little more opportunity to juice up the graphics as well as the gameplay. hopefully we'll be able to update with more info about that very soon, but it's shaping up well so far!
Hi guys, lab_build is finally approved on Desura! If you already got the game, you can update to the new build. If you don't have the game, it's only $5 and enrolls you in all of the free updates for the game that I have planned out!
Hey guys! You may or may not have noticed, but there's a new Navigator gameplay video up. :)
Linux version?
Hopefully later on!
If i buy it here, is it possible to get a copy on steam aswell?
Im new on this and this game catched my interest. Even though its pretty cheap here on Desura, i'd love to have it in my Steam Library :)
If we can manage to get on Steam, just drop me an e-mail and show me Navigator in your Desura library. I'll get you a copy. :)
Hey folks! Navigator is going to be in the Indie of the Year 2011 contest! Please vote for us if you liked the free demo or if you preordered, we really appreciate it!
If you haven't preordered yet, pick one up! It's 40% off until December 22nd!
No Linux version? That's a shame, as I'd probably buy this otherwise.
We're gonna see how this version does first before we branch out more. Gotta make sure the time is worth it, y'know? :)
