A new video has been released showing our internal beta development stage along the uncovering of new ship classes.

Hello, after a long silence I think who's following us will be pleased and repaid for such a long wait. We've been working under the radar to prepare some material for the Italian Videogame Developers Conference (http://www.ivdconf.it/eng/index.htm), that was held on 8th and 9th October here in Milan, Italy. Although we've been practically the last speech happening during the first day of the conference, it has been quite a success for us. For the occasion, we've shown a new video of our internal beta stage of the game, and I'm proud to present it to you:

The great music you hear was made by Michele, brother of our mighty programmer Filippo “Morfeo” De Luca.

In the video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mpgkqPaEelM to see it better in YT) I'm pretty sure most of you should have noticed some new ships and a newer version of the Free Colonies Alliance “Mistral” class frigate. The latter one should be called “mark III” since it's the third time (and I'd say the last one) we improve it.

Here follows the high poly version along with the detail model that it's in game:

The main changes are, further detail apart and some well-deck missile launchers, that the hangar entry on the front now has been wiped out; now fighters to enter or dock this ship will have to land on the four pads (similar of those employed with the dropships I've been showing some time ago), that it's possible to see on the wingtips of the rear section of the ship (where the bigger turrets are).

Fighters are now launched through two tubes instead of four that were employed in the previous version. Two of these tubes has been turned out to be a docking point to space stations or other ships.

Here some other views of the model:

Today we also uncover the Coalition's “Sarcosuchus” frigate.

Named after a giant prehistorical crocodile, this ship is smaller and lighter than the FCA counterpart, but it is a lot sturdier and heavily armored as it's possible to notice.

Its anti-fighter capability relies on two heavy flaks displaced on the wingtips, plus some racks of well-mounted missile launchers below the landing pads that are on the central top of the hull.

The fighter complement is launched through a single tube displaced in the front part. Always in the front it's possible to notice the anti-capital ship weaponry: a fixed heavy cannon on the left end and a missile/torpedo launcher on the other tip.

From the last render above it's possible to notice that the “Sarco” behaves more like a big destroyer in terms of movement, since it lacks of turret-mounted high caliber guns; so it needs to aim the whole hull towards an enemy frigate in order to use the main guns.

However being smaller, it is more agile than the FCA's rival, and costs much less in terms of production, so expect it to show up earlier than a Mistral during the gameplay.

This makes it for today's news.
Stay tuned!

Hrm. It looks very, very pretty. And pretty intense. And quite interesting...

BUT. I'm not much of a cockpit-view player for these kinds of games, and the third person view looks rather uncomfortable at the moment. Granted, I haven't played it, but it looks somewhat similar to the X3 third person mode, with the camera angled a bit up, and that game feels pretty lackluster in third person.

But, I'll wait for more to pass judgment.

There aren't enough developers trying to push the envelope in this genre anymore.

Please keep it up. <3
