Hey Folks! I have some great news to share with you about the coming weeks. The "Narcissus Tour Bus" (aka public transport) will be rolling out on the 27th of March with a selection of events on the cards! Here's some of the details of where we'll be at, where to find us in the events and what we're going to be showing!

Where are we going?

EGX REZZED: Link: Egxrezzed.net
Where: The NEC, Birmingham
When: 28th - 30th March

Rezzed is an event run at the National Exhibition Centre in Birmingham once a year. It features a plethora of different developers from the teams behind massive titles to the smallest independent companies. Whilst I've never been to Rezzed before I went to Eurogamer in London 2011 and I really enjoyed it. My favorite part by far was exploring the indie dev section, where I met some fantastic people and played some truly innovative games. A talk with one of the developers there, Alistair Aitcheson inspired me to take the plunge and start building my own games, so winning a place in the Leftfield Collection with such talent gives me the most tremendous pride. The Leftfield Collection has featured gems in the past such as Gone Home, That Dragon, Cancer and Apotheon.

On a side note, for any developers who are going to be going down on the thursday, I'm organising a meal at the Custard Factory in the centre of Birmingham on the 27th. If you're going early, hit me up with a message at @alexvscoding.

UPDATE Link: Updateshow.co.uk
Where: The Landing, Media City, Salford
When: 12th of April

Update is a fantastic free new expo being organised by my good friends at Prospect Games in the heart of Media City. The event is entirely free to attend (and to exhibit) and is going to feature a load of fantastic titles such as Tinykeep, Gangbeasts and Dream. The premise for this was in the North, there's plenty of developers but nowhere to showcase it! This is where this event steps in. Thoroughly excited for this as on top of exhibiting Narcissus & some other games I'm working on, I'm going to be doing a talk about teaching others how to program as an effective and enjoyable method of learning yourself. Other speakers at the event include representatives from Microsoft, Unity and CBBC. On top of all of this, there's going to be a rather enjoyable Afterparty from 7pm till whenever we stop buying drinks. Oh, did I mention that the whole event is free?

Contact for UPDATE: "If you are interested in exhibiting at Update and would like an information pack please contact us at: info@updateshow.co.uk"

Also, it's free.

INSOMNIA Link: Insomniagamingfestival.com
Where: The Ricoh Arena, Conventry
When: 18th - 21st of April

Insomnia is the biggest gaming festival in the UK, and I'm crazy stoked to be part of the Indie Zone at the event! The festival is split into the epic LAN space, the Exhibiting halls where developers show their games and gadgets (where I'll be based) and the stage where talks, tournaments and other stuff kick off. So many different zones! Going to have the opportunity to meet a ridiculous number of members of the gaming community, would love to meet any of you folks from on here who are going! Heard nothing but great things about this event from other developers and friends alike. Last time I checked, Insomnia is looking for indie devs to exhibit in the Indie Zone. Get on it!Signup form for INSOMNIA's Indie Dev Zone: Bit.ly

So... What are we bringing to the event?

Narcissus - The perfect game to put any healthy relationship to the test. A platformer in which you, the player must control two characters simultaneously moving through increasingly mind-melting levels. All to a smorgasbord of electronic music.Play First 25 Levels Here! Gamejolt.com

HOME MADE ARCADE MACHINE!

So with Narcissus, I really wanted to give the player the same experience as going down to the local arcade with a friend and having an awesome time together. I designed an arcade machine in the style of the old cocktail cabinets so that the players can yell across the table/trade insults/high five each other. Here's a photo shoot of what it looks like! Please take as many pictures of the box as you like and even better, record a Vine of you playing it such as the example taken two mates of mine who became the first to complete the game: Vine.co

COINS! (Because everybody Loves Merch)

As explained in another article, I really wanted something for people to take away that was small, but memorable, so I got down to machining some lasercut chips to win! If you can get to level 10, you win the coloured coin that you played as. What's that? You played as both characters? My metaphorical hat is removed in the form of you getting a coin for each. It'd also be ace if you could share pictures of you with your winnings as shown in @hyperslothgames team member, Ashley Stancill's hulk-tastic example:pic.twitter.com/nJ67Uajed5

MUSIC!

Narcissus wouldn't be complete without the fantastic work of Luke Smith, so he'll be down for the event as well with 4 new tracks that will be added into the final game/will be available for purchase with release. If you haven't heard his stuff yet, play the browser version of Narcissus to listen to "Uno". Here's a teeny tiny sample of what it sounds like!

I really hope you lot can make it along... If not, let me know if there's any events, expos, festivals or dev meetups that I should know about! Drop me a tweet @alexvscoding, email me at alexjohansson@hotmail.co.uk or comment below!
