Slender Man, a fictional supernatural character featured in countless games, books, photos, and even an upcoming Hollywood full-length feature film. From 2012 to early 2014, Slender Man was one of the most popular figures in modern pop culture. That all changed on May 31st, 2014.

On May 31st, 2014, Anissa Weier and Morgan Geyser - two 12-year-old girls living in Waukesha, Wisconsin, lured classmate Payton Leutner and stabbed her 19 times before leaving her for dead. She managed to crawl out to a nearby road, where she was rescued by a cyclist. Waukesha Fire and Police departments later arrived and escorted her to the hospital, where she spent six days recovering from her injuries and has since returned to school.

Now, 3 years later, independent video game developer Brandon D. Santos (aka. "SlenderDev") is giving back to the community and first responders involved in the incident and supporting mental health awareness nationwide.

"Mental health takes up a big part of my life and is something I take very seriously." Santos said in a post on his Facebook.

The game he is developing, entitled Slender: The Arrival - Remastered, is scheduled to be available on Steam for PC and Mac starting March 26th, 2018. A next-gen console release is estimated to occur on June 10th, 2019.
