We got a release date for Mr Red's adventure on Desura! 17 December 2013! That's an awesome date, because it's also Natalias birthday. She does the voice and everything for Mr Red, even though he denies it. And the feedback on the game has been awesome, we learned a lot!
Watching youtubers is the most valuable lesson ever. We thought this would be a game easily beaten in less than 10 minutes (Isak, coder and level designer, will post a super speedrun of the game soon) but then we saw the Let's plays and it was a dropkick in the face, but a kind one that want's to teach you how to avoid it in the future.
Something that we should have added was a voice when your life is full and when you try continuing after dying, because a lot were confused because of the permadeath. When you lose all your health, it's game over! You can still exit the game mid game and continue from where you last played.
Also, adding the tutorial in the very beginning that's easily skippable wasn't the best idea. Often people want to get to the game fast, and miss out where to get health and that you can destroy ice cubes. That led to lots of could-have-avoided dooms!
This game is easily content friendly though, and we could update it with more stuff. It would be awesome to have achievements for when you beat the game in permadeath mode, collect all the ballz, kill all the friendly gnomes etc. More levels, bosses, maybe even that you could pick up the ice cubes and use them against the gnomes? Everything is possible!
We hope to see soon someone actually post a video of owning the game! That would be awesome! And that gamer would be named the Ownerer of Balls.
Also, we see a similiar way of emotional development during the Let's plays. You start of giggling, feeling merry and joy.. then hit's the difficulty levels, and you end up angry. I wonder how you feel when you actually beat the life out of the Nutcracker boss and get all those balls?
