Replaces the flat vanilla death sounds with louder, longer screams of pain. Also added angrier British and German battle shouts.
Update: Replaced British officer voice with something more suitable. Added a few more death screams. Looking to add France next at some point when I get the time.
Description
This simple mod aims for immersion. I originally did this for myself quite a while ago, but thought i'd upload it somewhere on the off chance anyone else is interested.
If you're bored of the Wilhelm Screams and South Park-esque gurgles that one typically hears after dying in NW, then you're in luck. Most the original sounds have been replaced.
I've also replaced some of the British and German battle cries. A lot of them were simply the same quotes repeated twice with slight difference, so I took the liberty of replacing the superfluous shouts with fresher ones. The old ones are still there too-- largely. I'll probably do the same with France and Russia eventually, but just Anglo and Germans for now. These sounds are only for male characters. I had Minisiege in mind when making it, recommended with that for perfect ambience.
Note: these sounds won't be for everyone. Eventually they completely overpower the battlefield, especially on bigger matches. But if you like realism, this is probably a good mod for you. There are over 30 screams of varying quality, I used the best ones I could find. Chiefly from freesound.org, so not exactly perfection, but all in all, they're not bad. Not bad at all. Installation Instructions
Simple
- Unzip the file, open it, and highlight all the files contained within it
- Copy and paste every file to your Napoleonic Wars "Sounds" folder (C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\MountBlade Warband\Modules\Napoleonic Wars\Sounds)
- Click "copy and replace" when prompted. Overwrite every file.
Note: Do not place the "Screams" folder itself into "Sounds" or it won't work. You must select each individual file contained within it and copy and paste them into "Sounds". You'll know when it's done property, as it will ask you to overwrite the original death screams.
That should do it. Nonetheless, I suggest making a backup of your "Sounds" folder just in case you're not happy as uninstalling it can be a pain. If you do need to uninstall, delete "Sounds" folder and then verify integrity of game files via steam.
Compatible with all sound mods
If you only want to install the death screams and not the battle shouts, then simply copy every file named "man_death" and "man_pain" to your Sounds folder. Ignore all the rest. The same applies in reverse if you only want the battle cries and not the death screams.

Not sure how I'd do it tbh-- the files are all different for native and I'm pretty unfamiliar with that module, not played it much, but I'll have a look, see what I can do.
The sound when like 10 people get killed by canister shot is harrowing lol. Cool mod
