Bringing crime television and adventure game together, MISSING offers a unique experience in a seamless TV-like format. 100% live-action, no loading. In each episode, you will play different characters with different objectives. Your role is to use your brain to solve puzzles, find items or clues and use reflexes in action sequences to help the characters progress in the story. The magic comes in when you interact with the photo-realistic environments to solve the puzzles (see pictures above).

In the first episode you play Detective Lambert (Roy Dupuis) who is investigating a series of mysterious disappearances in the city. A new case has landed on his desk and he is now following the clues left behind. Lambert will lead the story as the series continues. Meanwhile, on the other side of the city, you also get to play David Newcastle (Patrick Hivon), the victim. Kidnapped for no apparent reason, Dave will have to find his way out and elude captivity while trying to figure out who his captor is.

MISSING was build with Unity 3D on top of which we had to develop two important components:

  • The first one was to create our own proprietary tech to support our main promise of a seamless transition between film and game scenes. This tech also allowed us to dynamically load the scenes in the background while the player is watching a video.
  • The second component was to create an adapted production pipeline to support both the traditional gaming techniques and the visual effects know-how. The end result is a game level that resembles a simplified version of a film compositing shot rendered in real time.

The first episode was release on December 2014 on all mobile platforms. The game was rated by users an average of 4.5 stars out of 5 and has reached #1 rank in paid apps on iPad in Canada. Based on popular demand, we are now proposing to make the first episode available on PC. We believe we can have it ready as soon as early 2015.
