Wow. We won five awards.

In the IGF, we won the Audience Award and the Grand Prize.
In the GDCA, we won awards for best Debut, Downloadable and Innovation.

I got to shake Anthony Carboni's hand two times, Tim Schafer's hand three times, and hold five short nervous speeches, rambling about indie games and being thankful.

On a side note, C418 makes music for Minecraft. He has released an OST of sorts on bandcamp. All the music from Minecraft (including a few unreleased tracks) are on there, in high quality.

Go buy Minecraft - Volume Alpha now! (Or listen to it for free)

Everything you pay there goes directly to C418, so that's a great way to show him you enjoy his music!

Is it bad that me and most people I know have the music muted 100% of the time

No, C418 makes some pretty good music like "Dog" (not "Cat", he also has a song called "Dog") but sometimes he doesn't even try to make it sound cool, like "Key" and that time he doesn't try, is a lot of the time, only a few songs from him I like. Sometimes I mute the music, and put Rammstein in, LOL.

Um.... Why innovative? Its like these GDC convents don't know about anything in the fields of online content. seeing as Manic Digger is the same concept and is older and was around longer.

And 100% free roam isn't new... Gmod had it to and many others. No where near an Innovative title.
I'll say best Audience hell yeah. Best Debut Hell ya but Its NO INNOVATION.
Not to mention Better things have been done on Java. WITH OUT ALL THE BUGS.

It's innovative in that everytime you start a new game, you get a new world, and the world you are in is seemingly endless... That's how I see it.

The innovation is not within the idea itself but its execution.

Manic Digger was a copy of Minecraft. It came after it. They are lying if they say elsewise.

as for free-roam, try to get out of a Gmod Map. you can't, as it's limited. Minecraft is unlimited, and you cannot get out, but there are no boundaries. Though, I can see how you'd get mixed up.

I made 1 mistake, i meant InfiniMiner.

And calling Manic Digger a copy of Minecraft is funny because they both aim to redo InfiniMiner except Notch is getting credit for inventing it all.

Oh and not to mention MineCraft does have map Bounds its just the map sizes are HUGE that why the size format is called HUGE.
And On Source you can make a map as big as you want ( Performance is the bar ).

I dont think gmod is... free roam.
Yes you can go anywhere the map allows, but minecraft builds maps based on where the player goes

I am not quite sure where you see procedural generation in Gmod, mate. You are saying that there is no innovation in minecraft, but I promise you; the more than one million people that bought it, beg to differ.

Whatever it was that InfiMiner did 'wrong' I am not quite sure, but my guess is the PR. There is no point in hating on Minecraft, only because you have the knowledge of a pre-existing, non-successful title.

I wish source was boundless, would have been way easier with my mod...

It's limited to the maximum size of a signed 16 bits integer, that's from 32 767 to -32 768 units. Of course you can bypass all the default map system stuff if you're "ambitious"...

i've fallen though a hole in the bedrock before, you fall into the sky forever. does that count as getting out of the map?

gmod never had 100% freeroam, you work off a predesigned map and continue to work off those constraints. Your points are invalid, you are an idiot.

What do you do most in MineCraft?
You build things!
What do you do in Gmod?
You Build Things!

And yes it might not be " Free Roam " but the bounds are what you make as a map.

I can see your point, definitely! I also think we should now sue Gmod for having taken the idea of 'Real Life'.

You see; in real life, you also only advance by building things, in order to solve problems. Also, if you want someone to actually have kudos for these ideas, why don't you go praise Lego instead?

Your argument pretty much is comparable to:

A rock cannot fly
Mother cannot fly
Therefore, mother is a rock.

Way to be logic ^_^
