I am back, and I am excited.
Marriage has been wonderful so far, and nobody sabotaged my computer while I was gone.
The only negative thing going on at this moment is the Scrolls trademark lawsuit nonsense, and I think I came up with the perfect solution:
Remember that scene in Game of Thrones where Tyrion chose a trial by battle in the Eyrie? Well, let's do that instead!
I challenge Bethesda to a game of Quake 3. Three of our best warriors against three of your best warriors. We select one level, you select the other, we randomize the order. 20 minute matches, highest total frag count per team across both levels wins.
If we win, you drop the lawsuit.
If you win, we will change the name of Scrolls to something you're fine with.
Regardless of the outcome, we could still have a small text somewhere saying our game is not related to your game series in any way, if you wish.
I am serious, by the way.
This should be how all lawsuits are settled.
Indeed. This is so far the best way to settle a problem I've seen so far! Way to go Notch! Good luck with the fight!
make sure Bethesda doesn't use an aimbot
(buried)
Why would they do that? If they did it would be the worst move EVER for them publicly, plus I doubt they need it or would give any advantage to either side.
i would like to see this battle, u should livesteam it :D
they totally should
INDEED
notch said on twitter that he would livestream it and record it for youtube :)
If he does, I'll be watching it.
THAT! is how you solve a problem.
quake three the cause and solution to most of life's problems
(buried)
My moneys on Bethesda.
Sorry but I love Bethesda, they made some of the best games ever like FO3, Oblivion, Morrowind, and Skyrim will be epic. (FYI I NEVER say 'Epic' unless its utterly true.)
I'll be honest with ya, Fallout 3 is the worst game created by Bethesda.
Notch hardly ever ceases to amaze me with his humor.
Oh, and i hope bethesda accepts.
They should livestream it.
Best idea ever! This is how we should settle wars too :P
What is livestreaming? and when is it happening? (sorry didn't mean to reply) :P, agree though
Livestreaming is when somebody streams their game/movie/whatever live so everybody can see it happening live.
I think it's a great PR stunt and all but... Bethesda kinda owns id and id employees are generally the best Quake 3 players on Earth. I really, really don't expect this to end in Mojang's victory if they go through with this, even though I really, really hope that Mojang wins the lawsuit.
Q3? will it be instagib? :D
Am i sensing an upcoming meme here? Notch challenge perhaps? XD
Lawsuit in progress?
Settle it with Quake 3.
Yeah, that works!
i would call off work to watch this Q3 match
please if they accept the challenge you'll put the video on moddb!!! battle of the titans!!!
As many mentioned before me, id is now part of bethesda, so you might challenge the ones who invented the game , good lock with that one :)
exactly! When I said it I get a total of -32 Karma just for stating the obvious which contradicts the majorities opinion.
I like how seriously Notch takes being prosecuted LOL
Well, sued. But same basic principle I guess.
All law should be done like this.
...as if Bethesda agreed to that proposal...
Notch Logic = A Game of Thrones Law = <3 <3 <3
actually i think there is a better way. one that is both enjoyable and competitive. dont play quake three play Battlefield BC 2. Both notch and Bethesda create a team of gamers who actually THINK when playing a war game and use teamwork to win. and you settle it off in the only game close enough to a war simulator than ARMA2. think about it. Battlefield requires teamwork to win as well as common sense and thought of the situation. it will show who is better as well as which company doesnt work well together. its perfect!
How about tell Bethesda to go back to their roots, make games because they love making them, and not because they want money. If they love making (good) games, and people pay for them, why do they want more?
Games.on.net
Notch may have dun goof'd
I like the irony. Game developers settling their disputes in-game. But I doubt this will turn out with a result.
This would be pretty good publicity for both companies, actually.
If Bethesda accepts, I'm going to flip ****.
i cant believe people are suing over a simple word......or is this all a joke
