So this is where we are at. After a lot of design and development work, we are trying to bring it all together. Mindframe Arena has turned into a more complex game that originally envisioned. Although it has added more work, we are happy with game’s direction. To succeed in the tough mobile market, you need a game with a solid tech tree and update system.
Like a lot of indie devs, we are using Unity. After some R&D, we decided to use our own backend server. This was mainly because of the team has a PHP user management system and we could adapt it for the game. In time, we may be able to share this server system with other devs.
Thought it has its quirks, we like Unity and its almost unrivalled cross platform support. It’s component model takes some getting up to, particularly if you come for a traditional OO background.
We are aiming to soft launch the game on Android, starting with Ireland. Then onto IOS and Facebook. That’s all for now. More dev articles to follow soon
