Loowa is the opposite of Lucas. When Lucas is scared, Loowa is brave. When Lucas is feeling cornered and wants to hide, Loowa is capable of moving forward, regardless of the difficulties. In a place where things aren't what they seem, Loowa has to overcome challenges to reach Sanctuary, and Lucas will go along for the ride!

Hey, everyone,

Things have been moving along in all fronts, but it's time to reveal a bit more about how Loowa's narrative is shown in the game. As we've mentioned before, after much consideration, we decided to tell Lucas' story with the help of illustrations collected throughout the game. Each level focuses on a small part of the story, displayed in four carefully selected illustrations which depict key scenes from one particular moment in Lucas' life. Each level gets players closer to the full picture, until they finally get to know the whole story, all the pieces of the big puzzle that is Loowa.

After working on the concept for Lucas' bedroom, our artist, Joana, moved on to the illustrations which will be featured in our vertical slice, to be released at the end of the month. We've chosen a very important scene, and the goal was to achieve the perfect balance between showing a recognisable place and moment and adding too much distracting detail. As usual, we started with thumbnails, followed by sketches, values and color tests.

Then it was time to pick our favourites and add details and shadows.

We're very happy with the results, and we believe they fit the game's style! What do you think? Do you agree with our choices? These two illustrations do a great job in showing exactly what we wanted, but, hopefully, still convey a bit of mystery, just like our boy, Lucas!

More to come soon, stay tuned!
