Loose pixels is a basic tower defense with retro graphics, and some smaller innovations in the TD genre.
Four colors are used for achieving the retro looks, I'll use dithering for more possibilities, and both sounds an music will be chiptune.

The game campaign tells the story of a game tester, who has to find and eliminate glitches and bugs in the game versions, the developers give him.The dev team publishes many demos, which get reactions from the players. The game will also have some point & click elements, I'm not sure yet, how this will work out, depending on tests and feedback, it'll be more or less dominant.

As this is a real 3d game, I'm aiming to create really 3d levels, with units climbing walls, even some flying glitches moving in a 3d path. The game will have tower development options, and towers will have some extra abilities. Towers can be created on moving platforms or the side of cliffs too. In the game, besides towers, some extra helpers will be availables, also defenders, which are moving units going against the glitches, and also potions, these make towers faster, stronger, have a bigger range or give an ability.

It started as a tower defense "engine" for a project I was, and am still planning, but I'll now try to finish it as a full game.

New Demo

News

I've uploaded a new Loose Pixels demo to Kongregate, this demo only has one level, and is closer to a regular tower defense map, than the others. There's 40 wave, and all the defenders and towers are available.

The only major feature missing are the upgrades, but I still feel, that I need to change the graphics and balance the towers.

The main feature of the game is, that Loose Pixels (and hopefully the other TD games, I'll build on the basis of this project) give the player a lot to do during waves too, as potions, magic and also defenders could be created when playing, and that some attackers come in real 3d (some flying units).

You can try the game here:

This looks super stylish! Hope it delivers in terms of TD balance? Not many TD games pull it off properly IMO - they tend to be either stylish or imba! I'll keep my eyes on this for release! Good luck!
