Description
Leylines is a 4X game, a turn-based strategy game of exploration and conquest. As a powerful wizard, you start by ruling a small nation as you plot to take over the world! Rule over seven diverse races, from shapeshifting Theria, to spider-riding Dwarves, to the decadent Regency. Explore a vast fantasy world, expand by building more cities, battle the armies of rival wizards, and cast earth-shattering enchantments to ensure your victory.
History
Leylines first began development in 2002. In 2003, the first public version of Leylines was released as freeware. The game remained in beta with much player feedback on mechanics and AI.
Around 2010, some initial work began on upgrading the art for the game. The art was finally complete several years later, in part because of focus on releasing the critically acclaimed freeware game Heroine's Quest: The Herald of Ragnarok, and later, the Deluxe Edition of A Tale of Two Kingdoms.
With fully upgraded interface design and improved visuals, Leylines is now a far more polished game than its first incarnation. We are pleased to finally be able to make it officially available, both on Steam and Itch.IO.
