Unfortunately it doesn't look like the FOV can be modified so with a wide screen view it looks zoomed in too much. A possible solution is to make the screen less wide - like in the original Wolfenstein 3-D. This can be done by using a resolution like 1280x1024.
Before: using a 16:9 aspect ratio (seems zoomed in too much - low FOV)
After: using a 5:4 aspect ratio - like 1280x1024 - or similar 4:3 ratios like 1024x768:
