Legacy is a rogue-like, procedurally generated, open world, character driven RPG. You play a character of your creation within the world until that unavoidable day comes in which he or she is no more, at this point you will create a new character, a descendant! This new character can be any race, or half race, that you have unlocked through romancing with previous characters, s/he will inherit certain traits of your previous characters as well as gaining the social status of being a child of your previous character. The world will change over this time as well, old friends will die, new enemies will arise, factions will war, the terrain will change, and the world in which your new character embraces may be but a shell of the world you once knew. If you failed to save a kingdom from destruction, be prepared to find the ruins of a once great city in it's place, if you succeeded in bringing a man of greed to power, be prepared to pay the consequences of creating a new dictatorship i

Post news Report RSS Legacy - Combat! New Fire! PPE!...

So what's new? Quite a lot actually, I've been working on essentially a little bit of everything. To break it down though, combat and AI is being worked on and making great progress thanks to my other half on this project, Javier. I've been tweaking all the models and animations trying to get everything nice and polished for our demo release and just recently re-added PPE.

So what's new? Quite a lot actually, I've been working on essentially a little bit of everything. To break it down though, combat and AI is being worked on and making great progress thanks to my other half on this project, Javier. I've been tweaking all the models and animations trying to get everything nice and polished for our demo release and just recently re-added post processing effects like bloom and SSAO. I had originally removed these since I wanted to see how the art would stand on its own without any visual effects sprucing it up. I feel pretty confident now in that I don't think adding post processing will cover up any glaring artistic flaws.

Now about funding, to be honest guys, things are getting pretty tight, I'm essentially flat broke, I'm 1300+ hours into this project, just over four months full time, and I'm extremely inexperienced in the business side of things. I've been talking with an investor over the past several weeks hoping to get $30k, which will allow me to work on this full time for 18 months and cover all expenses during that period. (I would be on a $8,400 annual salary if you are curious). The investor doesn't really understand the new media and gaming industry so it's been quite slow and I really have no idea how things will turn out. In the mean time I would sincerely appreciate if you guys could donate even just a bit on our Website (www.dps-games.com) , it would allow me to continue to focus on this full time (which for me is around 70 hours per week), pay for unity and contracting expenses, and would also allow me to hopefully (fingers crossed) have a glass of wine now and then! (And you get the demo weeks before its public release, I would promise more and I intend to fully reward donors for their contributions but the demo is something I can certainly promise.)

Anywho, pity party is over, lets get into some .gifs!

I bought a very nice cheap toon fire particle system, which quite nicely replaced the one I had done months ago, I had to tweak it a fair amount to get it to run nicely in the dungeon scene since there are so many torches, I think it looks quite nice!

Our nice directional combat system at work! The AI is still being developed (as you may have noticed), parrying, blocking, and rolling will soon be added, building the proper framework for this was most crucial and is essentially complete at this point!

BAM! This is the most recent update to the demon boss. New fire balls, updated animation, and more monstrous proportions (Larger chest, hands and shoulder).

And last but not least, running down the introductory hallway which will teach the player the basic moving, sprinting, and jumping mechanics, so basically platforming. (P.S. Those are the combat training statues you see at the end running in place :P )

I donated for this game, it was only a mere one cent. Hope it goes towards something great though :D

I may be able to donate more in the future. Keep doing work on the game, can't wait to play it.

Haha, I'm not sure if I even get the cent because of paypal, but I appreciate the gesture, I really do! It's not the minimum $5, but ill put you on the early demo send out list anyway! :)

I especially like the lighting in the final screenshot there. All the best with the funding and hope the investor comes through for you.

Thank you very much for your compliments.
Indeed we will be releasing a demo shortly, most likely at the same time that we give it a shot via kickstarter to get financial support.
