During the day, Jeklynn Heights is a gorgeous place with beautiful scenery and friendly people. As the sun sets however, the town slowly descends into a quirky, bizarre, and violent town. In this stunning multiplayer title, play on either the rich Town Square or poor Slum team as you fight each other to escape this devastating town. Combining third and first person perspectives, as well as a multitude of genres, Jeklynn Heights is a ground breaking title that is guaranteed to raise a few eyebrows.
In our first video blog, Kole Hicks, the composer for Jeklynn Heights, discusses the music for the game. He specifically showcases how he created just a few of Jeklynn's musical themes, complete with chord progressions and demonstrations.

good stuff :)
what sofware do you use?
Thanks! Oh... lots of different stuff :) Main DAW is Protools & a combination of many different libraries: LASS, Requiem, Cinebrass etc.
Awesome video, Kole, and neat tunes - but I do feel the drums could need a bit workaround. I think they sound too generic and also a bit too present - as if they're trying to bite off more than they can chew. :-) None the less, beautiful melodies.
Thank you. Hmm... not sure what you're referring to as 'generic'... the Timpani or perhaps the many different Frame Drums? The Timpani is a bit further back in the mix, but we decided to bring the Frame drums forward a bit for creative reasons. Unfortunately the music tends to lose a bit of it's momentum if they're placed in a manner consistent with a concert performance. Glad to hear you like the music overall though!
Really good composer. Plans the purpose of the music and whatnot. Also, the final piece fits really well and is a great addition to the game itself. :]
Thanks, glad to hear you enjoyed the excerpt!
