Not even CryEngine 2 (don't know about 3,) does this, actually!

You should make it have different skins for faces with different '$surfaceprop' parameters, like for instance make the crater model grey when spawned on a concrete surface.

Too bad you can't make it concave to the ground... Wait...Can't you?

I mean lua scripting in gmod isn't the same as coding for a Source mod, but it has been done in gmod.

agree with this guy, if it could be concave it would be better
but still a nice effect, good job

Does this work on curving displacements?

Apparently not, as half of it's clipping through the ground in this very pic.

awesome feature and that there is something like this in source now and you guys are the first one who'll have it is stunning :> - but i think it needs to be bigger... and the inside gotta be as flat as the ground.

right now it looks more like a molehill imho:

It's cool, but it just doesn't have the feel of a an impact crater. It doesn't blend in with the ground and the fact that it rises make it more of a destroyed ant hill which was said above. Maybe you should try making it concave and lower the general height of it.

Parallax mapped textures should be easy enough to pull off in Source. Combine that with a little geometry and you have a great effect :D

I think an old engine update broke the parallax mapping.

I would have liked a texture trick that makes it look concave over the dirty anus.

I'm sure it's just the 2D image, but it looks like the crater pushes pretty far OUT of the ground...

I agree, I see how there is a little concave bit in the center, but I would suggest making a wider dirt-ring and possibly a small decline in the ground.
