Description

"Into the Abyss" is a story driven rpg where you play as the young man "Kenn" who struggles daily with depression. your choices influence his view of the world, as well as how others view you. The abyss is a dark place, as one grows closer to it, the more it creeps into their lives, will the abyss consume you? or will you persevere?

History

As a person who suffers from chronic depression himself, some days I found it agonizing to even get out of my bed, let alone go to work. There was one night in particular , recently, that I went into a crisis state. I tried my hardest to reach out to others, but no one would respond. My ears began to rang, my head filled with thoughts of suicide and anguish. I just wanted a release. i began to message people rapidly, describing every detail of this pain, still trying to reach out. When it all finally ended, I read over everything i had wrote. All of that Pain, Anguish, Fear, Emotion, Temptation, could all be wrapped into a nice little phrase "Im falling into the abyss.

The very next day, as a joke i made a grayscale sprite of the main character, kenn, to a couple of my friends. they all really liked it, so i made a little walking animation for him. one thing led to another, and the next thing i knew i had sat at my desk for over 20 hours just coding and writing scripts for this game. it became a sort of outlet for me and my inner feelings that i i felt like i couldnt tell anyone else. that is what i hope to make out of this game, the true feeling and culmination of depression, and other mental health disorders.

i also have to give a big thank you to the developer "Toby Fox" for his influence on me, as it is probably obvious, his game "Undertale" and the Demo for "Deltarune" have inspired me heavily on this project.
