This has been a really incredible day. I can't thank you all enough for the warm reception Incursion has recieved. I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw our game sitting among the likes of Amnesia and Savage under Desura's "Most Popular" tab. Having something I helped to create receive that kind of attention is probably the biggest achievement of my life. I can't even begin to express how proud and grateful that makes me feel.
Other Indie devs will know the feeling of releasing your creation (even in unfinished form) to the world, putting yourself entirely at the mercy of other people's opinions, knowing that that the first 24 hours could make or break the project.
To see a "sad little" project that I began single-handedly a year and a half ago grow this much, and then be regarded so well by other people is amazing, and extremely validating.
This beta essentially represented the template that the rest of the game shall use, showcasing nearly all of the features you shall see within the average level, as well as what sort of length and tone to expect from each.
We are now relaxing things for a short while, both to recover from the final sprint leading up to the release of this beta, and also to consolidate our thoughts on the rest of the game's story and locations. In a sense this means we'll be spending less time at our desks, and more time at our sketchbooks and notebooks, planning out how we're going to create a full experience that will satisfy everyone here.
The only obstacle that ever really stood between us and a finished game in 8 or 9 months time is motivation, and frankly you guys couldn't have motivated us more. <3
I random suggestion -- perhaps there will be an encounter with a penguin at some point?
A penguin eh? maybe so.. maybe so..
Would a cat do? We already had plans for a cat. ;)
cats are rarely as dastardly as penguins... :P
