Just over a week ago, we put up a job listing for a Composer and Sound Designer at Cube Noir. We received a far higher number of emails than we expected, and all of them from incredibly talented individuals. We want to sincerely thank everyone who contacted us, it was flattering to receive such great applications from all of you.
In the end we chose Salt Lake City based composer; Nick Borrego.
Nick impressed us greatly by showing a huge amount of initiative, creative flair, and passion for the project, and unlike many of the other candidates, he was not afraid to challenge our current vision for the direction sound should take in the game; giving us detailed thoughts about what he feels he could contribute musically, what he would change about our initial briefing, and how he would go about the work.
Below is the demo he sent us of what he could do, composing a completely original piece to fit with some footage he recorded of the latest dev build (we sent it out to our top three candidates). Astonishingly, this was composed within just two days.
We hope you all agree that his compositional style is just amazing, and we can't wait to see what he brings to the project.
Very Good
Awesome... just awesome. You are lucky to have a composer who can match the game so perfectly.
We know, and we're immensely grateful. :)
