You have fallen into a vast underground maze. Can you find your way out, or will you end up trapped in darkness forever?
I Can't Escape is a eerie exploration experience written in Flash/Stage3D. It's graphics are retro 3D similar to old raycasting games. Really, the best way to describe the game is to play it: Newgrounds.com . You will get lost while playing this game, and there is no map - however, you will stumble across different areas and events every time you play!
I Can't Escape was made in one month for One Game A Month , and it was quite an interesting experience both to make and play. In the end, I am quite proud of what we were able to accomplish!
Do you still wake up in a cold sweat with flashbacks from playing "I Can't Escape" last year? Well, we're afraid this isn't going to help: "I Can't Escape: Darkness" has just been announced with an extra creepy teaser trailer - check it out:
So many of you played the original, we can't wait to bring you the sequel - and if you vote for us on Steam Greenlight, you could be playing it by halloween!
How could there be a way to escape in a game titled "I Can't Escape?"
Details on I Can't Escape, and my experience making the game in one month.

Here's a little let's play that I made : Youtube.com
Review time, I hope you are ready for some criticism :P
1] The title of the game fits perfectly. Although I checked in youtube and there is a way to escape, it's pretty complicated (you gotta go down up down up then you must find some sort of an X). I love the fact that you give the players the chance to escape but it isn't so easy.
2] The ghost. It's a good thing to keep the player on the edge of the seat, but if you added some spooky sounds while it's near (like ghastly whisper or something) it would be a plus for the atmosphere in my opinion. I'm glad that you didn't put a screamo sound at least once he appears, would've been really annoying :D
3] The graphics. On the graphics part, nothing really too impressive, but it's a flash game after all :P I liked how the textures change, but you could've made them even scarier as you go down, like add some bloodstained walls or stuff like that, I guess you know what I mean :D
4] Atmosphere overall was good, but not too immersive for some reason. I think the repetitive sounds when you go down more and more doesn't help. You should add some sounds like monster grows or things like that to boost up the atmosphere.
5] Controls. Now, this can be seen from two points of view. First one - unique. Yes, it is unique, the controls are from like a oldschool retro game and that is nice. Other one is that the controls are annoying. They don't let the player move freely since by the time you turn around the ghost may catch you.
Overall the game was a really good one for a flash game. I really liked that playthrough ^_^ 9/10 would be my rating.
Regards,
Night.
I'm lost int this game , hihihi !
That's normal :P.
I think that this game was invented to create riddles.
Second attempt, started on first floor, every single ladder that I could find was behind a locked door or on top of a pit, whenever I would find a key and bring it back to the door it still wouldn't open. I'm too unlucky.
Hehe, that's what the game's good at! If you couldn't find a single accessible ladder, you were somewhat unlucky (although they aren't easy to find). As for keys, they tend to only work on nearby doors, and some doors aren't unlockable (typically ones with ladders behind them)!
I may have to try again soon.
I think starting on the first floor completely jinxed me.
Also, loved the soundtrack.
This looks really cool
requires much graphic?
i really like your textures.
