Hi there! Thought I'd share an update for this past week - it was mainly about three things:
- Tune the hovering/flying physics
- Fix some plant textures
- Support reactions to sounds or objects thrown near bots or critters
The hovering and flying physics have been tuned so that flying creatures (as well as security bots) are all able to navigate the terrain (or obstacles) in a more "natural" way. If a potential target or threat is noticed, they'll be sure to make their best efforts to protect or go after them if necessary.
Here's a shot of a security bot in tracking me over a tiny bump in the terrain:
Several plant textures were also updated so they fit the environment a little better (not to mention some textures help to hide the low poly models). Still need to tweak the plants and foliage in upcoming weeks, but for now some fungus:
Lastly all critters and bots have been updated to react to objects that are thrown in their vicinity. They may or may not get hostile, but at least their attention will likely be drawn towards the objects for brief amount of time (if they aren't too preoccupied). In this image I threw an object near that little nesting area from afar - which got a reaction out of the critter:
