Post news Report RSS Week 2 update

So, here we are, another week later. I have been doing some design work and continued working on the drop pod, I estimate that it will be ready for show to next weeks update, I am currently UV mapping the damn thing (pretty sick of looking at, since i have been at it for almost a week straight) and is making it ready for baking, after that its just texture work.

I have figured out what types of classes will be available for play, and I feel that I am on the right track and I dare to make some of it public.

  • Factions & Units

    • Space Marine (Unit types) – Max 10 players
      • Sargent ( 1 unit limit)

        • The squad Sargent is a close combat specialist, having the only weapon option of carrying a Bolt pistol and a Chain sword (and Power fist as a achievement unlock), this unit have equipment slot 1 closed for having a superior melee weapon.

      • Devastator Marine ( 1 unit limit)

        • The devastator marine is equipped with one of the heavy weapons, but for first release can only have one option; A heavy bolter. The unit have equipment slots 1 and 4 closed for having a superior offensive weapon.
      • Tactical Marine with assault weapon ( 2 unit limit)

        • They are normal space marines with the squads special weapons, Being this Unit class gives the player the option to choose between a Flamer and a Plasma gun as main weapons

      • Tactical Marine ( no unit limit)

        • Your standard issue Space Marine, Equipped with a Bolter, additional unlock-able versions of bolter's are yet to be decided.
      • Servo Skull (2 unit limit)

        • A servo skull is a observation unit, small and fast with a few abilities, Its main use is scout and be the eyes and ears of the rest of the team, being equipped with only a flash light, and a hand to pick up items with (to head back and give to the marines), press buttons and alert the team of incoming enemies. The equipment slot keys are replaced to the Servo skull ability's:
          • equipment slot 1: Pick up/ hold item

          • equipment slot 2: Flash light ON/OFF
          • equipment slot 3: Scan ON/OFF (See auspex scanner)
          • equipment slot 4: Cloak ON/OFF ( Makes you semi translucent, AI renegades ignore you, and players have a hard time seeing you.)

The servo skull also have a special Power Bar, which is a value that only the servo skull has. The ON/OFF ability's drain this power, some ability's more than others. When the power bar is empty, all ability's that are on gets turned off, The power bar rapidly restores itself, but if it gets used enough that it goes empty it receives a 5 second delay before reactivating any ability (so that it may recharge)

Please feel free to comment or ask questions regarding the classes, even pitch ideas if you feel you can contribute :)

Seems well balanced among them. Have you thought about the Renegades?

yes, but the way they will work is still not all solid. some details need to be sorted before presentation.

I am looking in to the AI capabilities of the UDK to see what can be done within without going over the limit.

Our first goal is to make the marine team playable, the enemies will be done at a later date, there are still alot to theorize about how the enemies will work. But at the moment, we are looking at 2 -3 versions of how they will work, so we need to decide that first.
