Hello everyone, i have some very bad news.

I have spoken with the games workshop legal department and they are not happy with the project. Apperntly they cannot stop the development, but they can (and will) stop us from doing a release. knowing this fact the team is sad to say that the force of law has pierced our hearts and hopes of creating something amazing.

We wont be able to continiue. :'(

That is all...

And I'll give you a hint as to why probably; Space Marine. Amusingly enough I love GW to death, but from the trailer I saw of Space Marine, -this- actually looked better!

Rest in Peace.

Anyone else find it funny that a AAA Grade Project get canceled, but pieces of crap like UT40k are allowed to continue because it doesn't pose a threat to them?

GW are sooooooooooooooooooo motherf****s!!!!!
What's the problem with them!? This could even work as a great publicity!
God, I was so exited about this... it's so implausible that an autorized game like this one is coming out ever....arrrrggh

So sorry for you guys, you deserve the best for your efforts, too bad GW doesn't think the same

Why did they do this? i thought GW was community based. and out of nowhere they kill these guys. my old saying was "IM GONNA CRASH INTO EA'S HEADQUARTER FOR ******* UP CNC4!" now its "IM GONNA CRASH INTO GAME WORKSHOP'S HEADQUARTER FOR ******* UP HERESY TACTICAL DEPLOYMENT!

had you posted this on the 1st, it would have been a reason to laugh...
now its dead serious =(
Its hard to believe that GW doesnt support this kind of work, especialy when it brings so many newcomers into the Genre of Warhammer!

R.I.P. Heresy. The Brilliance and Quality of the projext shall not be forgotten...

Believe me, no ones more sad than us. we put in some real effort in to it, Though i knew that this might happen. Apparently The IP is their most valuable asset, and releasing something free made them shrug, And i wont have them hijack the game and sue us in the process.

The team has decided to start piching new ideas. But it might not be this kind of game.

you can always code the game and release with non-IP infringing assets

it worked for blizzard

Shame but thats the way things go with commersial IP, you'll find that GW has binding contracts with games publishers which stops then allowing start up games studiosfrom jumping in, might be an idea to speack to THQ and then GW.

as for the comment from Kalenov, UT40k might not look as good as some of the content in this game but at least we have had releases for the last 5 years

It pains me to hear this, being an avid Warhammer 40,000 fan :\

Disappointed to hear you won't be continuing, though I don't see a lot of work-around alternatives anyways :I

Bravo for all the work you got done and all the time and effort you put into the project, I'm sure it would've been a magnificent and beautifully brutal end product :)

Yeah, The only way to get this project through would be to buy a IP license, and to do that we need to establish a company, and if we do that we need a bucket of lisences for all our tools, in the end it just got to a epic scale for just working around it.

We started pitching new ideas and we are getting somewhere. Next project we will make our own ip to make it easyer

I say go on with it. I mean really? Exterminatus (hl2 mod) got by and made an initial beta release. This is as the boys from Spill would call some old bull!

Gah! Sorry to hear that GW has an issue with H:TD. Myself and the rest of the Extermnatus team have been drooling over your renders :P

I presume they have some issue with this being a stand-alone game as opposed to mod like EX? Or was it the 3rd person aspect that was a bit too close to Spacemarine?

I would like to offer a home to any 40k themed assets, over at Exterminatus, so that your hard work does not go to waste. (PM me if your are interested).

Either way I wish you better luck with your next project.
