OK, so the preliminary cover art needs some work. Let's try that again, shall we?

"Pirate" as in "play as a pirate" or as in "get illegally for free"? If the latter... YOU DON'T HAVE TO as it will be a free game anyway. ;-)

Can I at least PRETEND I'm "pirating" the game? It's more exciting that way!

Also, great news! This is being made with UDK, right?

In this case, there is really no harm to be done by that. Not sure HOW you want to arrange that though. :-P

Yeps.

While making it free is awesome, if you guys do end up making a huge game that is worthy of dosh, I suggest making a paid version of 10 for no commercials and a free version with a commercial every time you start to support further development while making sure people who dont have much money can play as well :)
Im sure noone will argue with a 2 minute commercial for a free piece of awesome software.
Just an idea tho ;3

I love the whole Pirates Theme.
And would love to finally see a game that can live up to the History and epicness of Buccaneers.
Furious Seas, Grand Isles, Lady's with Big Bosoms, Big Ships and ale chunking pirates.

I also would not mind paying for a quality product!

Please don't forget to add the third person as well.

Many players like me feel indeed that the game is more realistic and funny WITH the third person. Why, you may ask? You can imagine you're the one who is there walking, fighting or piloting the ship. In the first person, however, you can't see yourself, you can't see how you are swinging the sword or climbing the ship. It's funnier if you can see and feel the ship, and the best way is at third person!

And if, like in stage four, you are going to allow the player to customize his character, it doesn't make sense that he or she can't see his custimized character ingame!

Most of us definitely DO want to have third person mode in there, so I wouldn't worry about that.

Hello everyone I'm new to these waters sorry if my English is not very good and I'm Spanish. I see that you are creating a new game and I would like to bring you some quests if you want. I come from 3D Forum Age of Pirates and Buccaneers Gold in which we are creating a mod to add a quest to Diego Espinoza and Ian Stance.
Well that's what I wanted to talk to you if you want I can create some quests.
Thanks and greetings to all.

At the moment, we seem to have a lot of people interested in quest writing, even though the game's foundations are still being laid, meaning it will be at least a few months before we can include the first storyline.
However, that doesn't mean you can't help out with the quest-related brainstorming; we'd appreciate your input! You may also be able to help us with any Spanish content or dialogue too. Please visit our main forum if you want to join the team: Piratesahoy.net

Pieter, i have a few questions:

1.Will the game have any easter eggs or any thing?
2.In POTC:New Horzons, I liked the Woodes Rogers quest, will there be puzzles?
3. Can you add the Soleil Royal and Santissima Trinidad to the game?
4.Will the ship battles be similar to the one in Assassins Creed 3?(rouge winds ,cliffs ,weather )
thank you and good luck on the game!

1. We're doing this for fun. We won't be able to resist adding Easter Egge.s ;-)
2. I'm sure there will be, though perhaps not in the first release. It is definitely something that can add a different type of experience to the same game.
3. Any ship can be added, provided that they're made by somebody. Those particular ships fall outside our initial time-frame, but the intention is to add more time periods later on.
4. We intend to have all the good things in place, but they will be a LOT more realistic than AC 3 has them.

Sweet jesus I'm going to play the hell out of this.
First proper pirate RPG standalone.
10/10 would bang. Just hoping fencing will stray away from the robust sea dogs mechanic, making it more fun.
