Hearts of Oak: Conquest of the Seas is a non-commercial PC game being developed by PiratesAhoy!, and is to become the historical seafaring game to end them all! Fun, realistic gameplay on land and at sea, set during the Age of Sail, will provide extensive free play, exciting scripted storylines and intense multiplayer scenarios.
A quick render of one of the first completed non-ship assets for Hearts of Oak: a high-poly one-drawer telescope model, rendered in Blender.
AMAZING WORK!
nice work in blender how many polies in the model and how long did it take (just curious as a fellow 3d artist :P)
It was actually made in Wings3D, and weighs in at 3532 polys - designed to be for first person use. I'll burn it onto a low-poly version for other uses. I'm afraid I'm not sure how long it took me - I did it in bits and pieces.
Not bad,not bad at all. Pretty spiffy :D
I'd be interested in the low poly bake and its polycount. I expect around 900 tris and similar detail. So if this is highres, does that mean your first person telescope needs no normal maps (except for surface detail, later)?
