An update from the team on our progress for the past month

The biggest news this month is that we’ve released our first official video! The video showcases some of our core animations – movement, jumping, and a basic attack – as well as some of the environmental effects we are working on.

We have also released more screenshots which you can check out in the Media tab on our website. On the Kickstarter front, we have chosen October 15th as our official start date. We’ve set up a Facebook event that you can join so that you won’t miss a thing! As for the behind the scenes work that continues to progress…

Adam:
This month has seen even more work and polish on the main NPCs and the history of the setting, especially around what happened to the Lost Gariti up to the start of the game. Those events will be referenced in the game – and sometimes even in the blog posts – in the form of journal entries, notes, and dialog. The Gariti were a thriving and powerful kingdom before disaster struck, and the player will have the chance to explore, and perhaps recover, some of those former glories.

David:
We made a lot of progress on player character animation for both the male and female Falken. We also began building up our interior spaces in Sharp’s Point, including level design, sound, and visual effects. Our UI is beginning to take shape as well with a Health and Focus gauge, a mini-map, and more.

Rob:
August was a productive month for development. We hammered out most of the collision system, implemented some of the most intricate features of the game to date and squished many bugs. The core experience of the game is nearing completion and we couldn’t be more excited for what comes next!

Kickstarter Picks

Hard West
“I’ve always enjoyed tactical turn-based games, and Hard West is looking like an excellent addition to the genre. The fast pace and lethal mechanics will ratchet up the tension and make victory all the more satisfying.” ~Adam

Moon Hunters
“This party-based RPG with a solid art style and unique persistent-story vision looks extremely compelling. I can’t wait to play it!” ~David

Parkitect
“When I was younger, there was one game I could not put down no matter how late in the evening it was: Roller Coaster Tycoon. The team behind Parkitect looks poised to send me right back to my childhood. I can’t wait to launch some coasters into the water – in test mode, of course!” ~Rob
