Your primary goal in Hawking is to stop an alien invasion by shooting with your space cannon at the enemy ships and pushing them into blackholes.
The sprite below represents the space cannon: cartoon-style graphics look very interesting for me and it seems to be the best choice for Hawking.
As you can see the cannon is made by two different sprites, a building and the cannon itself, representing two distinct game objects in Unity.
Moving and shooting with the cannon is quite simple thanks to the complete support for XBOX controller and touchscreen ( for mobile gaming ); obviously pushing enemy into blackholes just requires a little more skill as if you were playing pool.
Each level screen is pretty simple: HUD shows you level number, elapsed time and the number of remaining enemies, which are spit out by a pair of green cannons at the bottom of the screen.
Since advanced levels can be much more complex, with lot of objects on screen, we avoid a massive use of special effects, trying instead to keep each scene clear enough in order for the player to stay focused on the enemies.
