Hi there,

As a new version came out recently, I decided to give it a go. However, whenever I open the launcher, immediately after the window appears an error popup does too, stating an unhandled exception, specifically "An attempt was made to move the file pointer before the beginning of the file." (The details of the error are below.) I can click continue on this and the launcher window remains open. It states the download as "Completed", but the play button is grayed out.

I've tried deleting all files and redownloading the launcher, but the same error occurs: no other files have been placed in the directory, so although is states installation has "completed" this is not correct. The launcher mentions making sure I have the latest version of the .Net framework, but I've confirmed this and I have; I tried downloading the latest version to be sure, and it stated I already have it.

Full error details:

Hello! I'm going to look into this now. Sorry that we've not replied sooner, both Kieran and I have just started our new jobs so we've both had hectic weeks.

There is a quick fix for this error though, I think. For some reason the launcher will download the zip file containing the game but it occasionally decides not to unpack it. If you go into your %AppData% folder and find the game, you should be able to extract the zip file yourself and the play the game from there.

Can you let me know if this works for you?

Hey Aawood, apologies about the slowness of the reply. As Sean stated there is a work around to play the game by manually unzipping it through the steps described above although it's the %localappdata% folder.

However if possible could you try deleting the "hashtagdungeon" folder and seeing if a fresh install fixes the problem? I'm having trouble recreating the bug on my end which is making it a pain to fix.

Thanks.

Apologies, I didn't get any alerts of the new comments :o Will need to check my options...

The bad news is that I had tried deleting the folder and installing from scratch but it didn't help, and that unfortunately I wasn't able to try the other fix before the new version came out. The good news is, the new version installs correctly, no problem! (The bad news is I've come across a separate bug which I'll have to post about. Doh!)

Anyway, thanks for the help, keep up the good work :)

Glad to hear its working now. We're currently overhauling the game and changing a tonne of the gameplay - so a lot of the bugs you're gonna report might be coming in the next patch. Stay tuned!
