History

GL's Vision Statement

To provide gamers with a new creative eSport caliber battlefield.

GL's strategy card battle arena gameplay is ambitious for an indie game, suitably, it has also been in development for over seven years.

GL's gameplay was inspired by a desire to mix together elements of Magic the Gathering, Starcraft, DotA, and the Pokemon TCG into a unique experience. People also tell me that GL also reminds them of Hearthstone, Yu-Gi-Oh, League of Legends and Chinese chess.

GL was created out of a love for eSport caliber gameplay.

The origins of GL's development dates as far back to when I was a teenager in high school. I was running a D&D campaign and my players kept wanting to build armies and fight in big battles. Eventually, I started designing new gameplay systems to govern these big battles. That's how I got started designing a series of battle systems which would eventually evolve into GL.
